Visiting PhD Student

Joohyung Yun is a PhD student at POSTECH and a visiting researcher at NYU through the IITP Global AI Frontier Lab program. At POSTECH, he works with Prof. Wook-Shin Han in the Data Systems Lab. His research interests include natural language processing and information retrieval, with a focus on retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) over real-world documents that mix text, tables, and images. At NYU, he is working with Prof. Mengye Ren on agentic retrieval over tree-structured hierarchical documents, where an agent navigates a document tree using an explicit record of what each summary left behind, so that evidence buried under abstraction can still be found.
